Ky Woods has worked hard in the off season developing a bike he likes and feels ready to win races on. Lets dive into some of the finer details of Ky Woods 2025 YZ250f rocket

Controls -Ky has chosen the Husqi bend Pro Taper Contour bars after testing different bar bends and runs Pro Tapers lock on half waffle grip, Ky has a little different bar clamp setup to most actually running his bar clamps in the forward hole back position. A great mod for rubber mounted bar mounts is the Zeta one piece top bar clamp to make sure no twisting on smaller crashes. Ky wanted more grip on his YZ so we added Acerbis frame guards and SPP Ti pegs to make sure his legs stick to the bike

Suspension – Ky has worked with JR factory for many years for his suspension so this relationship continues as Ky tests and develops his setting with Josh. The team then build up the package using Kashima coated fork tubes, KYB springs, Zeta parts and 74 Works coating on the shock spring. Ky’s suspension has plenty of hold up to allow his speed to shine on the track but also works great on smaller chop and gives good traction.

Engine – The engine starts off with 74 Works super finishing the crank, gear box and other internal parts. The head is ported in house and we run GYTR parts through out the engine, including the GYTR clutch hub and pressure plate. Ky ended up choosing to go with a hydraulic clutch due to his long history on the Euro bikes it was something he was used to. Ky was able to test different intake and air box setups in the preseason but actually settled on the stock airbox, Ky is very good at keeping the revs up so liked more over rev. The engine is completed using VP roo100 which gives great power gain and engine reliability then is mapped using GET ECU that the team work on the mapping.

Chassis – Ky tested different engine mount options and settled for the MSC aluminum engine mounts, The team run a light weight but strong MX chain by Regina and try to configure it to have a longer wheel base.

Other things Ky runs – Braking rotors with 74 works coated calipers to do the stopping, Ky is pretty hard on the rear brake but this combo with Yamalube brake fluid has been working great, we do flush Ky’s rear brake fluid pretty often though to just make sure no rear brake issues as he rides the rear brake alot. Ky’s bike runs a GET SL1 data logger so the team can download each session. The team can learn things from this data as simple as how the bike is running and also traits of Ky’s riding so we can tailor the bike to suit him and offer guidance of things we see that might help Ky.
